The "plugs" are factory, blocking off where oil passageways were cross-drilled from the outside so they could make 90° turns.

Yes, the factory used some sort of epoxy that does resemble JB Weld, then seemed to dab some silver paint over it. If you look at pics of other 650 motors, you'll see they all have this.

I look at a couple of my spares n see wat u was sayin the one up by the base gasket looked almost lik sumone blow a hole or cracked a oil galley is wat worryed my im in final assemble of my 706 tight now n to close to make a stupid mistake now

Those "cracks" are normal 60s 70s aluminum casting webs. they occur as the cooling aluminum shrinks in the mold, you'll find a bunch of them 'round the back side of the crankcase behind the cylinders. now adays casting art has improved and you don't see them on modern engines.

Not sure if I did something wrong or not but I never split my cam chain. I removed the cam shaft bearings out first and then was able to wiggle out cam shaft and then do it in reverse to install. Just have to make sure when reinstalling you have a piece of wire to hold the chain up when putting heads on so it does not fall in before you get cam shaft back under it. Like I said... not sure if I did not do something else wrong because of this procedure but it ran after, just a bit tricky to get timing linked properly.

The rear guide is seldom replaced, usually ready to go on giving years of service.
it's a case by case thing since you can overtighten the tensioner and delete the rear guide in about fifteen minutes. granted, it doesn't seem fall apart on its own
