Well, in 2014 I'm getting one of these all electric, gyro balanced C-1 Lits:

The C-1 is self-balancing, using two gyroscopes to keep the vehicle upright when stopped. The C-1 has “landing gear” which are deployed when parked to keep the vehicle upright. The gyros are fully controlled by the vehicle, allowing the C-1 to lean itself into and out of turns, maintaining stability at all times. And yes, it has a reverse gear!

    The C-1 will have a top speed of 100+ mph (160+ kph), 0-60 mph (0-100 kph) in <6 seconds, and a range of 200 miles (320 km) per charge. Dimensions: 800 lbs. (360 kg) curb weight, 112″ (2.8 m) long, 55″ (1.4 m) tall, 40″ (1 m) wide.

  4. If they made a "naked " model I would be interested. That cabin seems too small to be comfortable for me . I like the fact that you can get "T boned " and still stay upright.

    Scrambled,

Well, being as you are in Ontario, I'm surprised. The C-1 is a gyro stabilized all wheel drive vehicle with a heater. Your could put snow tires on it and ride all year. The cabin is designed for people up to 6' 3" so you should feel comfortable in it riding down the QEW when you visit TO.

I admire people who can think up something stupid in every regard and see it through to completion.

In the Dakotas you can license ATVs for the street and ride them around as if they were cars. Very common in some areas, and practical, where many of the roads are unpaved or gravel.

If "green" is supposed to be the appeal, then put electric motors in an ATV.

In the original post, a guy from Owensboro, KY (Go Kats!) has made a chopper so cool that Yamaha kidnapped it and took it on tour. Visually it's the result of creating parts to conform to a concept, rather than the usual creating the concept around available parts. The result is stunning although I'd hate to have to ride it.

Ya know, it's funny. I've actually SEEN a Chinook crash for no apparent reason, yet I'm ok with them flying over my house, yet when I see a V-22, I just want to be somewhere else!

I live right by an Air Force Special Ops base we see those things flying every day. Still makes me shake my head.

It could happen. Triumph started the retro market with the return of the Bonneville. Kawasaki had a retro for a while in the W650. Honda just brought back their CB series with the return of the CB 1100 and CB 500F/X. Real riders want standard, go anywhere, do anything motorcycles again. The appeal of the retro is simple; easy to ride, easy to maintain and affordable. What's not to like?

I am positive I read only last month somewhere that Yamaha are committed to bringing out a retro XS due to the very high demand in Japan for retro stuff. Not sure if it was to be a twin though. I can only find this promo vid

That's not new at all. That's the tease video on the Bolt from over a year ago. Look at the date in the video. March of this year release. The XS is not coming back anytime soon IMO. The triples are all modern era "standards" I'd be extremely surprised to see anything "retro" out of Yamaha unless they bring the current off shore SR500 back over for a litmus test.

    Kingwj I know nothing, nothing!

V22 was prototyped at the Wilmington DE airport, my backyard. Nothing is cooler than seeing a hovering aircraft rotate it's nacelles and disappear. Plus the sound is different than anything you've ever seen.

    I wouldn't rule out a retro 650. The SR 400 is back.
