running valves

ran the valves today on my 81 xs650 and they were off int. calls for .0024 that sounds close to me and .006 on ex cold. Does that sound right to you all I am used to running valves on my race car. It would not idle very well so the carbs came off to put the jet kit in from Mikes and found one diagram with a hole in it and fuel behind it i hope this will fix the prob .The bike is new to me. Thanks to all everybody is very helpful on this forum

That is backwards. It's 6 thou on exhaust and 3 thou on intake. You can get replacement diaphragms from I think JBM Industries, via the web. I'd probably put duct tape on mine, for a while at least.

Ask Oldskoolcarbs about the diaphragms, he has a supplier that makes ones that are direct replacements. He did my carbs with them and they work beautifully.
