Found some additional parts on craigs list. And I picked them up today as well. All the surface rust is coming off. Went to check plugs and one came out with a helicoil attached. Got new heicoils and had a hard time starting new one. I ruined a new plug and helicoil . Now I have to get a tap, helical and new plug :( . I was careful and used oil on the plug (inside) but I failed anyway. The plug hole is fine I just have to chase the threads and carefully insert new coil.
I removed aftermarket seat, road pegs and rack. I'm going to make it as stock as I can. Oil looks fresh. My guess is previous owner had plug come out with helicoil and figured it was hopeless. I'm really happy with the bikes condition. I have all original parts now.

Question... the lower fork chrome is peeling and poor. What are my options ?

As soon as I get a battery I'm going to see if yeller will run. Tank is clean and after plug issue is

resolved I'll try to start it . I also want to check compression.
I'm doing the easy stuff , but I'm still thirst for more.

Not sure? I thought they were chromed. I'll check. Could be paint peeling I suppose.

XS1 and 1B are chromed steel fork lowers. Alloy lowers started with the XS2.
