Stator, rotor, and top dead center

When I bought this bike, aside from the stator and rotor, the engine was complete. What I need to know is does the rotor only go on one way, or will I have to find top dead center? Then put the rotor on a certain way? It looks like the shaft is keyed, but the slot could be for something else. I bought a used stator, but I have to wait till after christmas to get the rotor so I don't know if it is keyed also.

The rotors are keyed so you shouldn't have any problems.

at the dealer they wanted 5 bucks for the key, I asked what size it was, they said it was a 4x5. I got one at home depot for a buck. its the half circle style, but cant remember the thickness though, Travis?
but yeah, it only goes on one way. A dab of axle grease will hold it in place so you can slide the rotor on.
