Fantastic! "...a bit of cleaning..." my eye! You got those right down to the bone! What method/media did you use?

Media blaster that was set up with 90% soda, 10% glass beads. Next they were thoroughly blown off, then into the parts washer for scrubbing. After parts washer they were blown off/out, then repeated the parts washer then blow out 2 more times.

Another question about those lovely bars ... were you able to use standard cables? I don't have the kit to make up cables so I'm looking for tracker bars that I can still use OEM cables on. Not sure how wide I can go!

Oh, no idea on that. I've got a hydro clutch, radial master cylinders and gsxr throttle bodies, so there is nothing stock connected to the bars.

Thanks! Still got a bit of work to go, but I can't wait to get this bike on the road.

Well figured I should update the thread since I posted on facebook. Wiring is 95% complete. Have to make a VR sensor set up to read the trigger wheel, and wrap a bit more, but the wrapping is waiting on a single .22 cent terminal for a fuse. It looks a little confusing in the picture because there is quite a bit squeezed into that little area. There is a starter solenoid, 2 relays, flasher unit, microsquirt ECU, 2 fuse boxes(4 fuses each), ignition switch, and wideband controller. There is still room for a battery to squeeze in as well. And yes I have checked and the champion style seat does fit over it all.

Ratranger I am really looking forward to seeing your FI XS competed. It can be challenging fitting all the stuff you need in on a normally aspirated bike it must be a nightmare with all the extra stuff you need for FI. Thanks for posting.

I would say the hardest part isn't squeezing things under the seat, it's making an in-tank fuel pump set up. If I was going chopper style I would have just used an EFI sporty tank. But tracker style definitely doesn't leave much space. I'll try to finish up my sending unit and get a pic of it.

IMO, the only way to balance a crank is dynamically. Which is expensive, and few shops are equipped to do a proper job. I worked on a hot rod CB750 once that had some uncomfortable vibes for the owner, so I sent the entire rotating assembly (crank, flywheel, rods, pistons, etc.) out to Falicon and they did a proper dynamic balance to ensure it was as perfect as it could be. When we fired everything back up, you wouldn't even disturb a glass of water on the tank more than some ripples throughout the whole RPM range. The owner said the bike was better than it ever was even new!

I considered a dynamic balance on my XS bobber (still am actually) project, but it's currently out of the budget.

Here are 2 more parts that needed to be completed. The fuel pump set up and the VR sensor for the trigger wheel.

Kinda slow at updating, but pain came out great. It was house of kolor paint in aerosol cans and spraymax 2k clear.

Fuel pump is in, and not leaking, hooked up a battery to start calibrating sensors and test things. The battery was a little low so I didn't get to check my trigger angle, but or is getting spark. So soon it should run.
