Sussing out a parts haul

I got into two out of three and came out zilch. All the clutch plates are as worn, dark, and hard as Stella's. The good news is the general condition of both open motors look pretty good.

The third, the 75, had a totally stripped screw that even the impact driver couldn't handle.

I now know why you guys talk up the OEM gaskets, those things seem indestructible! I bet the one on the 79 could be used again!

The 79:

The bins must wait.

Very cool DB - looks like you’ve got yourself a couple of ball games there!

I think it's kinda normal for used clutch plates to be dark colored. They run in dirty, black oil after all. The worn and hard part maybe not so much. Seems your hot climate is tough on these, along with rotors and alternators.

Check out the clutch spring sets. Heavy duty aftermarket springs were a common upgrade on these. Measure the free length. H.D. ones are usually a little longer and often are marked with a paint stripe.

There is no antidote to this "collecting" is there!
No antidote, and no end to it. :laugh2:
I once thought I was limited by my shelf space, but I recently brought a nice old custom seat into the living room to "display" (store). Hey, it looks good there, I thought, justifying my overflow.

If your selling parts, I call dibs on the headlight and the set of BS34 carbs....

There's three bins. The next one is larger pieces such as fenders and a brake rotor. The last bin will be fun, it's jam packed with small parts.

I'm open to selling much of this. PM'd.

Lots of goodies in that bin. The footpegs may be rather beat up but check the rubber mounting bushings. Those things are like gold. Yamaha still sells them but gets near $20 each for them. A stash of good used ones is nice to have.

Don't think I'd do much with the older individual carb set, maybe sell it off, but those later sets are nice items. The later BS38s are a '78-'79 set and that's one of the best of the 38s.

Yup, I'm going to refurb the 78/79s for myself. The 34s have azman's name them. I wasn't planning anything for the early set.

Foot peg mounting bushings... Hadn't thought of those!

The three oil tubes look to be in great shape. The airboxes on the right are complete including the OEM screens inside.

Nice score!! If you're gonna sell off some of it, I'd be interested in an oil tube adapter that goes into the upper case... for starters;)
EDIT: AND one of the oil tubes.

Hate to sound like an idiot, but what does PM mean? I'm interested in some parts... if only I knew how to "PM you."
I know it's a common term, I see it all the time... just never had to do it.
