Suzuki 650 twin from early 80's

What year was that? I'm pretty sure in 1980 when MotorCyclist tested the Kawi,Honda, and Suzy 750's, the Kawi KZ750-4 was the faster 1/4miler. Maybe the Yammie 750trip was included. I owned the Kawi

I don't doubt that. For some reason, the K-1 CB 750s were the fastest years ('69-70?) for Honda. They got slower after that. I've been told it was due to EPA camshaft changes for smog but I don't know that to be true.

The Seca was top of the heap in 1981. Of course, that didn't last long. The 1969 CB750 was basically the bike that sounded the death knell for the big vertical twins and the British triples. Honda went a little bonkers with the multi cylinder thing; during the 70's they built 350/400/500/550/600/650 and 750cc air cooled 4's along with twins of similar displacement. They also built the 6 cylinder CBX, which was very similar to a Benelli produced about the same time. Kawasaki and Suzuki jumped on the 4 cylinder bandwagon as well, just not as wide a displacement range. Yamaha didn't bring a 4 stroke 4 to the States until the Secas were introduced.

I goofed; I thought it didn't hit the market until the early '80's, but a quick Wiki shows it as hitting the market in 1978. Yamaha had the 750 and 850 triples at around the same time. The Seca lineup was introduced in 1981.
