I want to mount a short fender (Steel 7 Metals West 5 inch wide fender) to my rear swingarm and add struts. I plan on running it fairly tight to the tire (450/18) with about 1/2 inch space. It will be for a cafe/brat build. I've seen a few folks running something like this, but they don't go into too much detail.

How well does it work? any loss of range of motion? Mounting suggestions? What parts might get in the way (rear brake brace, chain, etc)?

My idea is to weld a few Hughs metric bungs to the swingarm arch, bolt the base of the fender to that using spacers to nail down the correct spacing depending on my chain length, and running short struts just behind the shocks (or maybe just in front). The fender wont go much longer than just past the rear frame loop.

Thanks
