Tail light question

Hey I wanted to get a smaller tail light for my 81 XS650SII. I'm interest in the tail light and side mount license plate holder combo. My concern is in the picture of the light I only see 2 wires coming from the back of the light, and my XS tail light has a bunch if wires coming from the back. The guys at Old bike barn said the light is non led and running light and brake light. I'm just confused and will this work on my bike?

On your 81 the tail/brake light has two bulbs. So it has more wires.
The replacement has just two wires, one is hot for the tail light, one is hot for the brake light, grounds through the housing where it mounts to the bike.
Just unplug the stock tail/brake light. The yellow wire in the plug is the brake light, the blue is the tail light, the black is ground.
Just run wires of the right color from this plug to the new tail/brake light.
