That's cool. I invented (on paper) a VCR conrod about 20 years ago. Hydraulic, dynamic/demand adjustability (within a couple strokes), much fewer parts. The concept was simple, figured that others would be exploring this too. But, nothing. Until now...
 
Oh, yeah. It's buried out there with a bunch of other 'blue sky' ideas. I was kinda holding this one close to my chest. But, it's based loosely on crane cams 'variable valve timing lifters' of 30 years ago. The key is the pressure-sensing leakage and pump-up valving. It was partly the impetus behind this simulator, which is primarily focused on wristpin loads:
