Found a 3-stage steam engine.

Thanks for this thread, guys! It sucked away a whole morning of my life.
And yeah, Bristol sleeve valve aero engines, 17 year old apprentice Freddie used to build the bastards. I'd suppose they were timed just like any other radial engine.
But about weird engines, how could you have omitted George Brough's Golden Dream?

I think that setup is very vibrateous vibratory
not to mention it is freekin me out

Yeah, that'll save you a buncha $ on your crank/rod budget.

This one also saves on conrod costs, but you'll need a NASA-class machining facility to fix it.

3D glasses would really help here...

First time I watched slow motion combustion in a glass engine was over 50 years ago.
I still find it mesmerizing.

Love watching the homogenous combustion of carbureted or port injected engines. So much better looking than watching gasoline direct injection and all the fuel washing over the piston top and getting down in the ring pack. Good video!
