The need for a battery?

So here is my no stupid questions submission...lol
-Do I even need a battery if I dont plan on having an electric start?
and
-Are there Magnetos available for XS650 motors to do away with the battery ( if in fact the bike will not function without a battery and would with a magneto)
-what would the best battery be for a rigid ? ( I went over a good bump in my 1941 dodge and the battery exploded so anticipating that problem ...)

Yes, you need a battery to run a stock XS. It must be a good battery, with a good charge circuit, or you will have dramas.

& yes can be changed to run battery free quite a few different ways. Check HERE for some clues :cheers:
 
Personally, I like batteries. I think they work really well. Not real big, so they don't take a lot of room. Not really heavy, (especially compared to me) make my electric start work so I don't have to kick, and store electricity. What's not to like?
