What brand/type of timing light has most been using? I would like to purchase one. I had one when I had my 77 but sold it to a friend after my 77 was sold. It was the one from XS650 direct (Mikes XS). I am located in Canada if any other Canucks have suggestions on where to buy. Thanks JC

If I were in the market I'd find a used one on FleaBay. I like the older chrome body ones and brand name is not critical, many are identical except for the name on it. I have a couple of old Craftsman and they are fine. Find one made in this country if possible. It must be DC powered. The inductive pick-up is a nice but not necessary feature and the ones without it are cheap. Avoid Chinese stuff and stay out of HF.

You don't need or want one with the timing advance adjustment on it, just a plain light is fine. I've had and used an old Craftsman like this (#161.2134) for many, many ..... many years .....

I started out with their budget model with the black plastic case, like this one, but it only lasted a couple years before crapping out .....

So, I sprung for the good one and it's served me well.
