Tool Kit

I was going to add a tow rope. Not sure what the various state laws are in the US but here in the UK a bike is allowed to be towed by another bike .
A bit of nylon rope or a tie down strap like twinsarehot has, would be great for tying stuff to the bike as well as for towing

I always carry a compact VOM on all my vehicles

Try telling the driver where you are when your cow trailing...

Ha ha... if I knew what "Cow Trailing" was, then I'm guessing I would have a different set of tools with me, huh? :)

I'm 99% sure most of the riding I do doesn't involve trailing any cows though... lol!

I also try to never leave the house without phone wallet with my AAA n credit cards which I've used a couple times
I used to work on the ladder ranch N.M.
this sums it up for me. I had a Yamaha 360 enduro

I call it cow trailing here because it's not as extreme as the videos terrain. But I'm far away from main roads. Through pastures on the side of some steep hills etc etc. I always have my phone but I never rely on it.

the tool bag hanging on the front is completely full of Tools.

I like to wrap a good bit of electrical tape around the handle of one wrench and gorilla tape around the handle of another.

I have a stuffed full of tools bag just like that on the front of my Sportster, need to put one on my XS650. Was looking at that horn you have today, if only it was smaller...

Who doesn't carry a cell phone and a credit card these days, but with tools you can sometimes make a repair in less time than it would take for help to arrive, and then you can continue on to your destination instead of being forced home or worse.

You can also be a hero and fix someone else's breakdown...

It's not complete, but it's for a later bike, the early bikes have 13mm not 12mm nuts.
I doubt the points file was stock...

According to Yamaha there are a lot of bikes that used the same kit.

My problem isn't unique but still - I need help. I have 1 sae wheel, 1 metric wheel, the entire drive train is stock metric, but the frame and everything else is sae. And me with a normal sized tool kit. And no, a credit card will not suffice, as in West Virginia we have some awesome back roads, but they are out there.

Hi Gene,
but what if you had a Royal Enfield? They use Whitworth hexagon sizes.
OTOH you can fix most things on a Royal Enfield with a Crescent wrench, a vise-grip and a BFH.
Seriously though, you need to put a specialized tool kit together that contains the exact mix of metric & sae wrenches your bike needs.
And take note of the coincidences:-
10mm is a sloppy 3/8", 13mm is a sloppy 1/2", 9/16" is a sloppy 14mm, 3/4" & 19mm just about fit each other while 1-1/16" and 27mm are a perfect swap.
OR
Just haul your complete toolbox along.
For that, you need a sidecar.
