Yesterday morning, I got on the bike and as I pulled away, the throttle was quite slack. The engine would not rev. While this is on my Triumph, many of other bikes have a similar arrangement.
To start my troubleshooting, I opened the throttle grip assembly. Once open, I found the bottom cable to be very loose as indicated by my finger. The top is taunt.

My fear was the other end had broke. The bike does have 76K miles now. To get to the throttle assembly connected throttle bodies, I must remove the seat, remove the bear claw, lift the tank and remove the radiator overflow tank. A slow poke like me needs about 20 minutes to do this.
Once this was accomplished, I see the issue is the cable tube has come out of it perch. The upper arrow shows where the tube (lower arrow) should be.

I simply placed the cable tube where it needs to be and tightened it down.

This turned out to be an easy fix thankfully. I was quite concerned to begin with, but simply troubleshooting a mechanical matter like this prevented me from taking it to the dealer for an expensive lesson.
I suspect the tube came loose when some work was done on it in June. The cables were cleaned and loosened from being tight enough to cause the stepper motor to fail.
But it is good to have a spare bike until I got home and fixed it...
