"Turbo Woody" Bobber Build Yes real wood!

Im interested on the turbo setup. Why is the mikuni not enough? Also, any reason you didnt try a draw through setup?
I wonder if you could get away with no fuelpump. Even with the turbo, I cant see it dumping fuel faster then you could feed it.
Also I know that when tuning my dsm. The stock turbo t25 was designed to see oil pressures of 100psi+ while upgrading to an evo 16g I had to reroute the oil feed to a much less 10psi location. One of them was ball bearing but I dont remember which.
Those turbos also had coolent lines so you werent relying on oil for cooling.

Any updates on how your clutch set up worked out ? I am thinking about copying what you did, coupled with Ippytattoos 8 pack and Barnett springs .

The clutch set up works incredible I switched it over to another XS650 for a while so my girlfriend could learn how to ride with much more ease on her hand. Its funny you posted this today because I have not touched the bike in over a year and last night I put it on the lift to get started on it again.

I wanted to put an intercooler on my bike just on principle so a draw through would be a no go. The fuel pump is not for using to much fuel it is for overcoming the pressure in the float bowl from the pressure created by the turbo. Also I have some options I will be trying out #1 switch to a flat slide carb and different turbo.
#2 Switch to fuel injection which I already have a controller for and a different turbo. I already blew this turbo so I need to explore different options.
#3 keep this carb and try to work out the bugs I would love to figure it out just because I like doing things not done before.

I need a strong kick in the a$$ to get some motivation to finish this! Winter is here and I keep saying this winter ill finish it, I want this to be the one.

Okay it has been a while but I will be riding this bike in a few weeks :bike:. It has undergone an extensive change. I scrapped the turbo "not forever just for now" and went a different route. I have back problems so I cannot ride a hardtail anymore so I went with a compromise and did a cafe. I am going to prime it up and ride it for the season to work the bugs out and then finish it next winter.

I think that should be its name "Back from the Dead" haha. I have built 7 XS650s since I started this one and I am incorporating everything I have painfully learned into this one. I want to get a good riding and handling bike before I go crazy again and get the turbo back in this bike. I also am not sure how the wood will hold up so it is going to be a test year. More pics and info to come.

Great progress these last few days, a couple more weeks and I should be on the road.:bike:

Thank you all for the compliments
Lowlife rat I am a career firefighter as well as a call lieutenant on another department and to add to the confusion I am also a firefighter in the Air Force Reserve. On the side I do all my woodworking.

Hey Wallywheels,

I was a firefighter in the Air Force Active Duty for 4 years! What base do you work at? I was stationed at Moody AFB GA. btw- Crazy bike!

Just final coat of clear on tank left to do and then final pictures will be up and its ride time. Just in time for some 60 degree weather:bike:

Hi wally,
despite that you chickened out of veneering the gas tank, you gotta remember it's a bike, not a coffee table and any drip you can't see from a yard away ain't a problem.
My own standards say "can't see from across the street" but you are better than that.
Nice work.
