Do you have any unused unwanted carburettor parts that you could help me with ?


I have bought a pair of 1979 BS38 carbs in good faith to which someone has previously installed the wrong internal parts .

If you have any of the following parts that you would be prepared to sell me I'd be extremely grateful.
I would even buy your incomplete or damaged carbs for these parts.
78-79 slide/s with or without diaphragms (late type with conical plastic needle plate)
78-79 Jet Needles 502
78-79 Needle Jets Z2 (emulsion tubes )


Heiden Tuning have all of these parts but I'm a pensioner and just cannot afford / justify the £180 cost of these parts having already been deceived out of £130 on a set of unusable incomplete carbs made up of incompatible bits from 1972-1984 carbs.

I know its a lot to ask guys but can you help a fellow xs650 enthusiast to get their bike running again for the summer

Hi 2M thanks but these are US sources which will be no help unfortunately which is why I have directed this post to UK members.

The shipping costs £ plus Import charges £ Custom charges £ Admin costs £ internal UK postage costs £ and VAT @20% £ would absolutely kill any shopping from the US regretably.

Although there are still apparently plentiful supplies of parts in the US , prices have risen in recent years to silly levels now, even more expensive than in the UK and Europe . The XS650 is just too popular and everyone and his GrandMother is jumping on our bandwaggon and cashing in it seems.

These late BS38s are an absolute minefield . I have now done over 8 hours of research , cross referencing and parts searching throughout the Net and wading through over 1500 ebay parts I'm still not clear which particular Slide will accept the Z2 needle jet and 502 jet needle combination together with the late 78-79 BS38s.

Even Yamaha Dealers and parts sellers have not the foggiest idea. I have seen over 100 parts for sale incorrectly listed as 76-84 or 76 -80 etc which just adds to the general confusion .

When I have finished my research I'll put together a list of parts compatibility with pictures, part numbers and dimensions etc and any sources that I find.
