Welding exhaust question

I am building a cheap exhaust system with the origional pipes. I cut the mufflers off and got some 1.5 aluminized extensions from the auto parts store. My question is how should I prep these for welding? Grind off the chrome and aluminized coating?

yep grind it well and it will be fine for welding then wrap it for a nicer look
