Prepping Tank for Good Bones '78
This tank has been on a shelf for a while; PO had red coated it and installed new vacuum petcocks. I bought it reasonable and now am preparing it for my 78 standard that has vacuum spigots on the manifolds.
The red pin striping was a vinyl tape that left a persistent glue on the surface, but it is coming off. I plan to rattle can it silver metallic, same colour as the frame on the cafe.
Impatient to start spraying, but prep is the most important step.

Fawksey. Did they install the scaffolding on top of your bike or did you wedge your bike in after it was installed?

Fawksey… HC... You think they might have knocked on a few doors to see whose it was before they started setting up?? Guess not!

Hi @Fawksey . Welcome to the forum. I'm guessing from the style of house, the palm and some of the background you are in Cornwall. I'm in Devon on the coast. Any time you want a squeeze of Yambond or can't find your M10 socket don't hesitate to ask.

Most kind Dave, surprisingly despite the palm and style of house (a quarry mans cottage built around 1790 the basement being where the whole street brewed and drank their beer) I’m in North Yorkshire close to the West Yorkshire border.

The historical background to your home and neighborhood is becoming more and more intriguing !

How about telling us about the rock behind you ?

Lol! The rock behind me is millstone grit. It’s on Bamford edge near Sheffield. On weekends it’s a playground for rock climbers. 200 years ago the rock was worked here for producing millstones for making flour

The jacket I’m wearing is a Triumph reproduction of a 1968 six day trials jacket worn by Steve McQueen and the coffee cup is orange melaware made to compliment VW camper vans in the 60s and 70s

    No Drip Cafe
This morning I let the "new" bike stretch it's legs on my country block, about 17k. Nothing fell off and nothing leaked out. Quite pleased with the way it runs, pulls smoothly without hesitation and vibrates no more than my '76 runner.
Pleased the way it turned out.

It has a nice neighbourly sound and the coating has not burned off yet, so it's all good!

Tempted to just clear this, but still a bit old fashioned, so carried on with the rattle can plan......

    Shade Tree Spray Booth
Tank fits on a piece of 7/8th dowel to spray the tunnel and petcock area, then pick it up and place it on 2 by 10 and spray the top.
No runs in the Rustoleum "dark steel" metallic. Will show off another day.
