Rattle Can Reno Completed/Quit While Yer Ahead
Well I was going to paint the side covers solid red, but seeing it in person to me it needs a bit of contrast to brighten up the red. But it is definitely better than solid silver.
So now on to finishing the wiring.

Not wild about the red fenders and stays. Do like the side covers. Tank needs something.

Chrome front wheel is just a place keeper, trying to confirm if new dealer installed front tire on a rain catcher rim has a slow leak.
Red fenders are more of a styling exercise or break the mold idea than what I would do on a keeper. Plus, used up a really rusted pair that would have been otherwise destined for the bargain table at a swap meet.
Tank will get Yamaha decals; for the side covers I have duplicates of the 75 decals.

Maybe a bit of silver on the edges of the fenders?

Got the petcock to stop leaking. Turns out the missing ingredient was "More Torque, Dummy!"
Moved the timing pickup from fully retarded to middle-of-the-range.
38mile errand turned in 54.44mpg.

One plug wanted less pilot, they both wanted more main. Repeat the same trip, but cooler and with no traffic to break the wind at midnight, 54.0mpg.

I think she's happier.

Tell Tale Clean Sheet
Almost at the end of a 20 km ride today, I relearned the fact the reserve is up, not down.
Pretty sure I got a complete fill up when I zeroed the odometer, but it ran dry at 195 km which may be about 30 mpg. I guess some fettling is called for.
No worries.
Also have a small leak at the clutch cover - I had fixed the starter spring and reused the gasket with a thin spot in it - serves me right.
