Exploding - you've got to come to one of these events!

I can assure you - you will be the only person there with the words "exploding" or "coffin" or "emporium" - in your on-line name. :D

I'm definitely considering the Ohio show, I'll have to see if I can convince my wife to go or else I'm rolling solo, and if that's the case I'm gonna hardtail it down there, still gotta top my Paps Chicago to Mexico on a rigid HD run one day, but one trip at a time. Hopefully my wife can go though, she looks damn good in a skirt and that's certainly enough to keep me motivated on a decent run.

I'd love to make that one too - it sounds like a blast.

It isn't too far away from my place, but daughter #2 is getting married shortly after those dates and I suspect that if I tried to do a motorcycle trip in mid-late July, either it would be vetoed or my membership in this family (or perhaps the human race) would be cancelled.

Oh well.

Lindsay G, where in NZ do you come from? Taking a long shot now, does Tokomaru mean anything to you?

The Picton netball team call themselves Tokomaru but I think its a town up North isn't it. I'm about halfway between Blenheim and Kaikoura.

I knew a Lindsay G in Tokomaru just south of Palmerston North in the 70s. He is a year older than me i.e. 58. I hope you survived the earthquake well. My mother said the roads are open now.

yeah survived OK Paul, the house took some damage but is liveable.I'll put some pics on my build thread. But no the road is open from Kaikoura to Christchurch but Kaikoura North is still blocked and they think it won't be open until Christmas.
