Any one ever had this stuff build up on their gas cap? It wasn't there a month ago. Should I be worried about anything other than the cap it self rusting? Is it something to do with the fuel?
I'll say fuel. I'd get that on mine, too; plus a different deposit/coating/goo in my carbs. Chemical reaction from moisture-absorbing ethanol. Stopped doing it now that I'm using a gasohol fuel stabilizer.
Ethanol. I run ethanol free gas as much as possible, luckily my area lately has been getting 91 octane that is ethanol free at most gas stations, seems all Valero stations near me have 91 ethanol free. I run itin most all my engines, since pretty much everything I own is old and carbureted.
cra-z1, thanks man. Yours looks amazing clean! I don't think mine has ever been cleaned in the past, lots of oil and dirt caked on. And I'm having electrical problems right now.
Anyway, thanks for the tip on Sipes! It's not even 2 mile from my house.
I like your bike. Have one just like it that I bought new. Mine has Superbike bars also.
I'm fortunate to have ethanol-free gas nearby. Good luck with your search for some.
Ethanol sucks!
