Why is my pergo not locking?

Well it's a little late now cause I'm going to return it. The pieces just won't stay together. I've done laminate floors b4 just not pergo brand and it's so frustrating just wouldn't stay locked.

Only done a little laminate flooring but it always needed a rubber mallet. a partial piece from the first strip laid,with the lock edge trimmed away. and a wood block against that to strike to "set" the joints. then a rubber mallet down along the joint. Pergo youtube video had same complaints aplenty in the comments.
