Hi guys, currently working on a '71 that I had given to me. Engine was seized but got it free. Then decided I should do a teardown and see if it needed bearings etc. Got the head off, and went to remove the cylinders but there is a brace between the cylinders so the chain wont slide through.
So here's the question: Do I need to break the chain to dissasemble the motor or is there another trick?

Mine was the same. You don't have to break the chain. Just slip the cam bearings off should be able to work it out. Pull the jugs and you have to take the rear chain guide off. I think it has 4 phillips head screws. The rear guide will stay with the chain until you break it.

I got the cam out and head off no problem. It's the cast bit of bracing between the cylinders that's messing me up. I'll probably just break it as I am replacing it anyway.

Thanks for the reply.
