Does any one know of a source for the white graphic design on the XS2 tank?
The original was a painted on design but I would like to find out if there is a decal or a stencil that is available.
This design can be masked out in the original factory fashion if all else fails.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
Cheers
DelXS2.

Hi DelXS2

Thanks for the photos - a great looking restoration on the tank!

The solution is to paint the graphic just like the factory.
However, I don't think that Yamaha had someone had masking the design on each tank, probably a mechanized stencil process.

Thankfully it's a simple design and should be reasonably easy to mask. If my tank ends up looking as good as yours I'll be happy.

What was the red paint specification and was it basecoat/clearcoat or metallic base, colour coat, and then clear?

Thanks again.

Cheers,

I'm still waiting for my paint to come back but these are what I sent the painter, an original paint job.

No I have a couple of guys that do painting for me, often we work out trades.
Because I'm usually backed up a few projects, I am not in a hurry when it comes to painting.

There are decals for the 73 TX650 tanks now.

Heres one I did earlier, just a plain grey primer then white appliance paint in a rattle can and the red is Citroen wicked red metallic again in a rattle can. The stripes I marked out by trial and error using 5mm wide stretchy masking tape.
