Xs750 transmission second gear pops out

I have a chance at a 1979 xs 750 triple my only concern is that second gear is hard to hit without it popping out of gear is this a known problem and does it require splitting the cases to fix? any help would be great

Yeah Yamahas (quite a few oriental bikes actually) are kind of famous for popping out of 2nd gear. Usually not worth the effort. Those triple engines are not simple to work on either.
