I was on YouTube and found how to wire your xs650 charging system by electric church. Has anyone seen this? It's a pretty helpful video I think. I was just wondering if all xs can be wired like that or just like 71-79 or 80 through whatever?

good videos, made wiring a little less scary. he is just wiring his charging system. you will have to figure out your headlight/taillight/brake light situation. the nylon screws he is using is because he is putting a COMBINED reg/rect (later models) into the charging system that once had separate(earlier). he is ungrounding that brush.
