I made a really sturdy portable engine stand from an upside down childrens bicycle. Obviously bicycle forks are very sturdy, and everything on the bicycle is height adjustable and rotatable. I turned the handle bars around and laid them flat so it will not tip.
The wooden box it sits on has 2 used steel pulleys from a Subaru timing belt job as wheels. I put a little handle on the back, you can lift the handle and the whole platform moves effortlessly. I know its ghetto, but works well:)

Lol!
We have way too many bikes in my garage. I seem to collect anything with 2 wheels :)
In the city I live in, you can find abandoned bikes all the time. I chop em' up, rebuild them and give them to the neighborhood kids.

It is attached at the forks, and the rear of the engine rests on the bicycle crankcase. I bolted a piece of an old weight bench to the wooden box, and bolted the rear of the engine to that as insurance. Probably didn't have to, but wanted it to be very secure.
