XS650.com is now running on the Xenforo platform. There are many new features and some changes that will take a little getting used to. The biggest change is the responsive design which will make the site easier to use on a phone or tablet. The site also has much better security and should be less vulnerable to being hacked. The search is better, it handles picture much better, you can have attachments in private conversations, video embedding is easier, and the list goes on and on.

Sorry for the down time today. I've been at it all day and well into the morning hours. There is a lot of work left to do so be patient with me. I have a couple hundred hours into this whole conversion process so far so be easy on me if things aren't perfect yet.

Post any bugs or problems here and I'll do my best to resolve them. Enjoy!

Thanks Gary!

For everyone else, Profile Post are just like on a comment on someones wall on facebook. It's a public comment on someone's profile. It's not a private message (now called private conversation). Speaking of private messages, they now read like a thread so you don't have to quote each other in every message.

The facebook login isn't working, so I've disabled it until the issue is fixed. I have a support ticket in with facebook and expect it to be resolved shortly.

Two things I don't like, #1 When you go to the first page of every forum the list of threads is much shorter than before, the list is VERY short. #2, I still have the same stupid looking avatar!!!!

Hi Travis,
thanks for your efforts and yeah, it's can-of-worms time, eh?
So, if I wait until it's all sorted out I will start getting my e-mail notifications again without having to re-set anything?
You will note from this post that computers ain't my thing.

Looking good Travis, I like the new layout. Still finding my way around, but so far, very nice.

And you can't imagine how much I was jonesing yesterday reading that message over and over. :)

I'm pretty sure it was 30 before and now it's 20. I'll consider changing it. It's no longer user selectable.

Yeah it has been a busy morning! Click your user name at the top right, then click Preferences to select your email and watched thread settings. To manage your existing watched threads, click watched threads in the orange bar at the top, then at the bottom of that page click 'Show all watched threads' Or click http://www.xs650.com/watched/threads/all
There you can disable all email notifications or unwatch all threads ('manage watched threads' top right). To manage single or multiple threads, select each thread using the check box on the left and manage it using the drop down at the bottom. Let me know if you need help or want me to globally change some things for you.

Thanks. Yes the update took much longer than I thought it would, even though I went through a couple of test imports over the last few months and already converted xs400.com. People hate change, but the guys over at xs400.com have adapted nicely and I'm sure everyone will here too.

I converted all of the old youtube video codes to the new method. I also fixed 371 incorrectly embedded youtube videos.

To embed a youtube video in xenforo, click the media icon in the editor (looks like this:
media.png
) and use the entire youtube url. You no longer use just the 11 character video code. Vimeo and facebook videos are the same.

The tech page hasn't been imported. If you're talking about all of the links that used to be under 'The Garage' forum like Engine, Pictures, Exhaust, Clutch, ect, they were done using tags. All the tags are still there, I just haven't created the shortcuts yet. Like this: http://www.xs650.com/tags/electrical/

Search all tags here: http://www.xs650.com/tags

I know this will come up so I'm going to address it. I will not be re-installing tapatalk. I'm done with their shady antics. Security issues and spam aside, they are now forcing signatures and banner ads to download their app unless I pay monthly. I was okay with tapatalk when they allowed a site owner to control signatures and banners, but now they are soliciting everyone who uses the site on a phone browser to download their app and make the site even more dependent on them. The sooner we cut them off the better. I'm sorry for few of you who like to use tapatalk, but they are running themselves into the ground.

There is a team working on a solution to provide xenforo sites with their own apps. It's something I may consider after it's released and the bugs are worked out. It's also a paid solution, but I trust the developers to not hijack the site, and it should be a better product because it's xenforo specific.

For now, give the site a try on your phone. It's fully responsive and works well. I know it's not as good as a dedicated app, but it's miles ahead of the old mobile skin.

Thank you for your hard work Travis. Members if you want to see what happens when a forum is not well maintained have a look at the Yamaha Triples Community site. It has been spammed so badly that it is almost unusable.

I've been testing this upgrade as a 'guest' on my smartphone and tablet, and: So far, so good, Travis!

Another forum I used to visit had numerous problems with their XenForo upgrade, lost numerous 'media' content, and had broken links everywhere. You're obviously on top of this, the 'media' looks fine, and imbedded links look to work fine. This is a serious amount of work to do this conversion, you get a pat on the back. Now, it's up to the rest of us to adapt...

Thanks!

I've converted and redirected sooo many references to albums and album pictures and attachments and fixed many broken ones at the same time that people didn't do right in the old software. The old links to threads and post are redirected with scripts since you can't change old links to this site from other sites. It has been a ton of work but it's coming along.
