Lately, I have been thinking about TT style headers, as they give more freedom for rearset linkages, (in addition too looking damn cool)
Today, I came across the MAC website: http://www.macperformance.com/new-motorcycle-exhaust.html
It seems they have 2 different systems, 1 with individual pipes, and 1 with an X-collector. Unfortunately, both systems have 1 3/4" headers, which I understand would be too large for good street performance, at least in theory.
I really would like to hear any experiences or opinions regarding these 2 exhaust options?
Performance, sound, weight, fit & finish, ground clearance, etc.
Currently my XS has 1 1/2" headpipes and "Commando" mufflers from Heiden Tuning, same as MikesXS sold some years ago. They look good, but not as good as the MAC TT types.....

I ran similar 1-3/4" close-fitting tuck-under TT pipes like that for years. Didn't have any clearance or overheat problems with them. Spend some quality time with them, adjusting overall exhaust length, reverse-cone mufflers. My best streetable length was having the muffler end about 4"-6" ahead of the rear axle.

On a 650, or a larger capacity engine? No loss of low end and mid range torque? Any kind of "torque" inserts used with these larger pipes?

Eeeeerrrrruuummmmm, yeah, a 750cc.
There's a bunch of other stuff going on in that thing, maybe I shouldn't have used it as an example. Doesn't use or need torque inserts. The important part is to allow yourself some leeway to play with the exhaust lengths and mufflers...
