I'm thinkin' the easy out ain't gonna help here....

This will be the 4th set I've gone through so.... they're fairly easy now. I don't use the kits... either OEM Yamaha parts or Mikuni stuff from Niche Cycle. How hard have those 34's been on ya? Just ordered the expensive kits with different jets and such from mikesxs..will attempt them on Cinco de Mayo after my last final exam!
--> watching this gave me the confidence to do it..so I bought everything he used...
Now ya tell me...@Jim , I've cross drilled the posts and .025" safety wired the pivot in place.

My Last Special
One of my "just chip away at it" projects: I installed a motor today. Bought this as a bare frame 8 or 9 years ago and using up the good left overs.
Supposed to rain tomorrow so I can concentrate on the wiring on the 73 TX650.
Then I really wanted to change out my mains with the carbs on the bike and just didn't have the right tool. So I've modified a couple after work on the hardinge lathe.
Flat blade size10-12 have a nice thick blade for the brass jets but don't fit in the drain access threaded hole. Turning down the blade and hex just far enough to reach those jets is the answer. .260" diameter fits both the mikuni jet and the access threaded hole.

Lookin forward to gettin home to the garage as I have never had appropriate tools to change main jets so easily.

I’d call that a win.I know some people call easy outs "not-easy outs".... and using 'em on carb brass is especially frowned on.... but sometimes ya get lucky. Of course... a good PB Blaster soak doesn't hurt either.
BS34 pilot jet.

Well, I think you're on the right track. A suggestion if you haven't already thought of it.... after replacing the bad wires, thoroughly test everything electrical on that bike before you start wrapping it back up. It sucks to put everything back together nice and tight and tidy, turn the key and find out you missed something. Don't ask me how I know that....Ripped out half the central nervous system. PO routed the harness incorrectly, then replaced a 10A fuse with a 30A instead of actually troubleshooting whatever issue he was having and finding the three spots that were rubbed through. Going to replace the fried wire and wrap the adjacent wires that the insulation melted onto with electrical tape, then wrap the whole thing with marine heat shrink. Probably won't be able to get to that until next week, though.
