The ergonomic experiment

After trying on helmets from different brands, finding some mediums to small for me and some large that fit, also mediums that fit, (what i bought), i cannot fathom buying from on line. It s a pig in a poke to be lucky enough to get one that is going to fit properly. A poorly fitting helmet is either going to cause headache or some part of the face where it rubs or it will be loose in areas or all together.

I just ordered an HJC IS-Max II helmet. I hope it lives up to the reviews. I may have to bend my glasses a little for the right fit...:hump:
Now I'm remembering back when I was wearing full faced helmets years ago (for racing purposes) I had trouble finding ones that accepted my glasses easily. I found that the HJC helmets were the best at this. ;;;

Yes, it is those "hotspots" in the formation of the styrofoam in relation to the head that lead owners to shave or deform the styrofoam shell in small areas. I have found that it sometimes takes very little modification to achieve a good fit.

I tried my HJC IS-Max II helmet today on a short around town ride. It fits my head perfectly. The fit with glasses is very nice and comfortable without any pressure being applied to the frames. Thank you Yamadude for directing me to HJC for glasses fit. This weekend's weather will be fine so a good test ride is on the cards.

Unless you have "people." :sneaky:
Buddy has a HJC IS-Max II in large. Wore it for a bit and it felt great. Ordered one from Amazon. It's a perfect fit.

I have bought all but one helmet online. The only one I had a fitment issue with was a Bell Revolver helmet that I bought from Revzilla, they took it back no questions asked and paid for the shipping both ways. Great company to do business with.

Hi Mailman,
I got my flipface helmet used from the USA, the seller said he'd bought it on line, found it didn't fit and it was mine for the pack'n'ship cost.
At that price I took the fitment risk and the helmet fitted me just fine once I worked out how to put it on without dropping my glasses.
Alas that the seller declared it's new price rather than the "used helmet $25" I'd suggested.
The accursed border Nazis import duty just about tripled what it cost me.

Revzilla doesn't appear to have the HJC IS-Max II helmet any more I'll have to scope out what other kind of HJC modular helmets they have
I know if I buy from them they will let me return it on their dime to try a different size

Today the weather is fine with a blue sky, small fluffy white clouds and 16 - 18 Celsius in the morning. I set off on a 75 mile trip to test my new HJC IS-Max II helmet. The route was a mixture of town and country roads with the last 35 miles higher speed main roads/motorway with 55 - 70 mph all the way. The helmet was worn with Auritec earplugs and was nice and and quiet. The fit was comfortable. The padding was a little tight below my check bones but far from unbearable and should flatten a bit with time. The sun screen really only has one setting and is easy to operate. My Duchinni helmet has a sun screen but when used it seems to disorient me a little and mess up my spacial/speed judgement. Maybe it is just too dark?? The HJC sunscreen was quite light and I was able to ride with it fully down in complete comfort. I would prefer an infinitely adjustable sunscreen like the Schuberth helmets but $$$$. I find I need to remove my glasses before putting on, or taking off, the helmet even though it is a flip up type. With the helmet on the glasses go on without any interference from the helmet and they remain very comfortable, as if I'm not wearing a helmet.

I can now say my new helmet was a real bargain at £50 on special - Lucky me. For my head shape it is superior to the Schuberth C3 Pro I recently owned. I am sure others would find the Schubert to be the superior, but its all about what fits the individual best that counts in the long run.
