This just happened to me. After a week wait for him to "move funds" I went to cash this check paying for the Norton (I let him take the bike, even loaned him my trailer)
Bank lady sez um this is written for $5!!!!! (written line takes precedence)
Gulp!
Great story. Honest mistake or did he do it on purpose so he wasn't charged for a dishonest check fee if you had banked it within the 7 days. Sounds like he had every intention to pay
To answer an earlier question: Regarding test rides, in the UK it seems the norm to state that test rides require a deposit of the full asking price in cash.
I hardly write checks anymore but reminds me of the times I went to our local Hardware Hank store and when I wrote the checks I signed it Hardware Hank for some reason. Banks always cashed it.
So it goes to prove there are a lot of honest people out there.
This same story happened here many years ago. Not to me but I heard about it. I have let a buyer ride my bike but I was on his bike that he rode up on. I have let folks take a car for a test ride but I kept his license.
