I have an unusual request for help - medically related

Oh, it's a rush alright, but that's as soon as the surgeon and the radiologist could fit her in. She's the surgeons third operation that day.

Good - a wise approach DE.

All the best to her and your family.

Sorry, been a little preoccupied...

Surgery went well, took longer than expected as they had to REALLY dig for the lymph node they wanted to biopsy. Removed the tumor and a node and put in a port for the chemo that will be a part of the treatment. Outpatient surgery, she was home that night. A little groggy and sore as hell, but home. I went up the next afternoon and sat and yakked with her for a while. Still pretty tense while we wait for the pathology report on the tumor (checking edges to make sure they got it all) and the lymph node.

Assuming they get an all clear, they'll do a brief series of radiation treatments and some follow-on chemo. At the moment, the chemo plan is expected to have very minimal - possibly no - side effects at the type and dosage they'll use.

Tough time, but stay strong.

Yeah, btdt, DE. Port catheter for the chemo, radiation, stay away from babies and small children, blah, blah, blah.... I didn't lose much hair (!), but I did lose a few teeth (it's an ongoing thing - I might lose a few more. They call it "osteonecrosis"), and implants are spendy as hell. That said, I thank God every day for waking me up in the morning, cuz I'm not done pissing people off.... You get to remission, then get classified as a "survivor" with bullshit and attitude. I got bags of both!

Well, after THREE (3) surgeries, they finally came back with a clean pathology report. If this one still found pre-cancerous cells, it was going to be a radical mastectomy next. So, dodged a bullet there.

She starts chemo Monday and the original estimate of side effects is out the window. She'll be dealing with nausea and hair loss after all.

She's keeping a positive outlook tho. She did a picture of herself bald and with a bushy mustache - she (and both of her boys) said she looks just like me...

I don't know WHERE she gets her sense of humor...:umm:

Hey DE----I assume like you she is a tough Maniac and will do well with her Chemo regimen. Always extra pressure when it's one of your kids. I wish spectacular results for her.........
