Gonna start a build/restore thread?
I will reveal the new toy in a couple of days In a separate post. I’m keeping my fingers crossed there won’t be enough work needed to warrant a restoration thread. Pretty confident the mosquito population will be low in our yard this summer. 😃

My bars are solid mounted, hence my resistance to ride much above 4500rpm. I do have new rubber bushings ordered and hope I can cludge them in before Ozarks.

A friend of mine is here from far away. He traveled here on two wheels. My 650 is off the rack and we’re riding this weekend.

It’s mostly stuff I posted before, so no pictures.
Haha! There was a time when I planned a trip to this particular crossroads for when the time was convenient. This is who he's talking about. Listen, learn, love. In the universe of non-manipulated classical reality, immeasurably more talented than a media creation who stole the song and made a fortune from it and continues to do so. Murdered by a jealous lover though, which is kind of an upbeat end maybe in a way...

I synced my carburetors yesterday. I have far less vibration today.

3500 is about 55 mph. I wouldn't want to go a lot faster. That's about what I could survive in a high side, in my imagination...

Is that a adjustment by sound? I think my vacuum ports are between the carbs and I would have to disassemble. I understand the sync is adjusting the linkage (77). A search mention mentions vac gauges or manometer but I do not think I have access to the ports.

I have a Morgan Carbtune. I was able to tweak mine without removing the tank utilizing a long thin blade screwdriver. What I do on my XS11 is remove the seat and turn the tank around backwards. You can do this with the 650 if your tank has two petcocks. The adjustment is between the carburetors.

I used one of these when I first got my bike. Nice tool. I have since bought a dial type synchronizer. Works ok but only had two gauges so I bought a Motion Pro liquid type manometer that has 4 banks. Need to try it out soon on the triple.

Speaking of fast; I have been testing the question of, "Can one ride an XS650 TOO fast?"

One can exceed the speed limit of course and be fined for such.

As mentioned above, vibrations intensify as one rides faster.

I can now add that an XS650 can ride too fast and blow the snap on visor off your cool retro helmet.

My Speedo says 65mph so I was around 75mph actual. I turned my head to verify the lane top the left was clear so I could merge and POOF! The visor took flight.
I slowed to about 55mph or so till the off ramp arrived about 6 miles away. I stopped at the first convenience store and bought a cheap pair of sunglasses for the rest of the ride into work.
So yes, one can ride an XS650 too fast for the moment...

First ride out, we did just over 55 miles.

A short putt to the coast and then a long back road loop back to towards to house and a final 8 mile stretch on the highway.

Runs like a top and is much tighter than I’d expected. Had a long open stretch of backroad and figured I’d give it a go. Smashed the 90mph mark on the speedo and still had more to give.

The rest of my ride was a steady cruise at 50/55.

My Saturday morning are usually spent at Jiujitsu but I hurt my shoulder so I took the day off for a relaxing ride.

Windy and a little overcast but always a good time. Even had some greenery left on the hills by the lake.

You live in a beautiful place for riding. That scenery is something.
