Adopting another problem child

Finally was able to track down my engine seals. Seems my regular post office doesn’t deliver the signature required mail as that comes from the Annex. It took me 2 weeks of going back and forth with the seller about where it was, 2 hours on hold and 4 operators before I finally got to someone that could actually apply the tracking # from the polish mail system. Went to the Annex and was informed a Delivery attempt was made and they were waiting on my signature. I told them if the driver had actually done his job and left a notice they would already have it. All around not a good transaction just because I wanted to try a few different suppliers. I ordered another set from 650direct and I’m willing to bet they arrive before the weekend.

With my seals in hand I got a little motivation back. I spent the day at the wire wheel cleaning and buffing and getting things ready for paint and powder coat. If it will fit in my oven I will powder coat it otherwise primer and paint. I cleaned up my shocks as well. I think they turned out ok considering what I started with. 32BB0C2E-DDC3-494C-8117-A3A4A7913FA5.jpeg7EFC2547-55CB-41E2-BFD9-5627D5AC6D27.jpeg1167E423-E479-40F0-8B0D-28632B1F74FA.jpeg68520B3D-6563-4401-8408-FDB6941945BA.jpeg

Getting a few things together and trying to finish whats started before moving to a new task. I installed the roller bearings on the neck and attached that to the frame. Installed the cam covers and got the weights, points and outer covers on. Tomorrow we powder coat! I don’t think I’ve ever had an engine done before I had a chassis to put it in. I have a feeling that after I get the wheels done this bike will go back together quickly. I still have to sort out some wiring, rebuild the forks, carbs and brake systems but things are progressing.

There appears to be zero damage to gears. Due to the pennies being soft copper that probably saved things from being really bad. I’m just wondering if the spring steel is from the same prank or something else. It’s pretty tiny and I can’t imagine where it would have come from under that cover.

The little bits of broken spring are probably from one of the little springs associated with the shifter assembly. It's not uncommon for them to break .....

I am thankful that you either have a ready to go engine, frame and complete bike for disassembly and pictures, or a catalog of labeled photos ready to help so many of us. Thank you.

I had to leave the house for a minute but I’ll look when I get back. That wire is very light. Are those adjuster springs that light duty and if it broke would the whole spring be in the bottom of the cover?
