Has anyone this year had their frame, swingarm powder coated? What was the cost?
I am checking a place in GA but wanted a idea of the cost.
Thanks.
Bill

When I had my XS2 frame powder coated, I paid $165, just for the frame. The price included blasting and the results were beautiful. It was a good experience. The frame looked like glass. Couple of tips……I used a hair dryer to soften and remove the Vin tag because it would’ve been destroyed in the ovens, and I saved it for my records. The powder coater covered my frame vin number with a metal tape so it wouldn’t get filled with coating. And don’t forget to remove the steering lock which will melt as mine did! And it was a major pain to get that melted lock out!

Thank looks great.

The frame for my No Theme build was $140 for hammered finish. No swingarm. I had it chromed, much cheaper than powder coat. I did all prep work myself.

@Mailman is it possible to get replacement vin stickers? Mine is there but I think if I tried the hairdryer method I would end it with several pieces.

I took a number of clear photos to keep, just in case I ruined it. Also the frame has the vin number stamped on it. But there are options for reproduction tags, here is one from @WideAWAKE ,

I believe there are others out there as well. A forum search for replacement vin tags might find a few.

I had my frame PC'd. It cost about $350 iirc, which honestly I thought was a bit much. That included blasting.
I had the vin sticker recreated. You can't really tell from the photo but the new one is reflective like the original.

Did that include the blasting?

Yes.

My cost included frame, swing arm and in 1 case hubs.

- mailman’s bike is one of the best PC jobs I’ve seen. Not one bubble or flaw. The guy doing them does not value his time hahah. Price should be triple.

Who made your sticker?

Just got my new VIn from a very well respected guy in the US. He is a moderator on the Yamaha 2 Stroke Trail Bike Forum and an excellent resource for hard to get Yam parts as well as rebuilding oil pumps and gauges. He charged 25 dollars each for my AT125 and XS2. I think I remember a Brit advertising on EBay, but Deet also supplies the exact silver sleeving for the XS wiring so I went with him. Cheers. DEET (yamaha@nc.r.com).

Brilliant mate, I'll screenshot this for when I get to that stage.

I had my hardtail and all the bits and pieces for my build blasted and coated by Miller's Custom Powder Coating in Lilburn GA. They did a great job. I believe everything was in the $275-$300 range. I've been using them for about 20yrs. Wow, time goes by fast!

I charge that much to paint one and I'm not making any money at that price, Too many hours labor $350 is more than fair.

Below is what I received from a local place.

Roughly 450.00 for a painted frame, swing arm and a few small parts.
Thank you

You're right, it was cheaper than painting. Most of the cost was in the blasting. I had the swing arm done as well.
The real hassle was even finding a place to do it. Most of the PC places around my area wouldn't do the blasting.
