This what I bought. My guess is dc plus is power in, dc - is ground. The three ac are my white wires. Correct?

    1977 XS650 Replacement Reg/Rec

I double checked and it was just the one blue wire for neutral light . Since I’m going kick only and putting lights on toggle I will cap the yellow. Hopefully I can get this wired up in next week or two. May follow up for questions and to report how it goes.

I might have made the dark blue one up. Need to double check. So all wire harness I see show yellow capped off. Do I cap it for my setup?

You guys rock! At the alternator plug there is the dark blue that goes to the engine. I think neutral light. What is the light blue wire for in the plug and what is the yellow wire that is separate from the plug?

    1977 XS650 Replacement Reg/Rec

All, I have read many posts about this, but just need a little clarification. Also, most links are broken in the old posts. On a stock charging system 1977 XS650 can I buy the following to replace the original regulator and rectifier? I am wiring from scratch...

    First Top End Build

great! I will try that out. However, Does the cam center itself once everything is installed and tightened? If it slid a little one way do I need to pull the cam cover and adjust the cam again, or should I be fine?

    First Top End Build

Alright guys I am back. I have just installed the cam cover. It is not torqued yet. I just used some gasket sealer and put the nuts/bolts in finger tight. When I put the cover on I had the came gear center in the channel. I am now putting on the points covers, but on the right side I am having...

    First Top End Build

Hey all back at it! I got the jug and head back on today and now working on getting cam/chain on. The new chain is tight! I put the two bolts by the spark plug in an tightened to snug and the on above the cam chain tensioner. Still tight. I will get it, but may need to do some prying to get it...

    First Top End Build

I will take a look later today. So the o-ring should fit down into the groove? If so, your probably right that the groove just needs cleaned out. I will update.

    First Top End Build

Any thoughts on the o-ring? I think I will not force it into the groove and just ensure it is situated in the correct spot unless someone says otherwise.

    First Top End Build

Yes sir! Rings are done and the pistons are in the jugs. Ready to install the front cam chain guide. Here soon everything will start going back together. Question: I took out the old o-rings around the cylinders and put the new on. Are they supposed to be pushed into the groove? They don't...

    First Top End Build

I got all the valves seated properly. No leakage even using the air method 5twins recommended. I got my first set of rings filed and installed on the piston. One more set to go. My end gap for top and bottom rings were 0.009-0.010. The oil rings were 0.013-0.014. That is within spec correct? I...
