"Restored" what does that mean to you

All this silly fussing over labels! To me, "restored condition" means returned to the original condition the machine was in on the sales floor new--no worse and no better. If the machine has been improved beyond new condition (not uncommonly done) it's no longer a restored item, it's modified...

Wanted - Spoked front aluminum rim. With or without spokes and hub.

TW, I had forgotten how hard USPS and the private services were squeezing individuals in order to cut prices to compete for corporate business. It's the old game of Reverse Robin Hood, rob the poor to give to the rich. I'm dropping that both-or-nothing requirement, they want more to ship 2 rims...

Sorry TW, I meant it: it's both or neither. My object isn't to sell but to mitigate a bad case of TMS (Too Much Shit), get the parts to a better home than the recycling center, and get the place cleared a bit for my wife before my last long journey. If dealing with an extra is too much trouble...

Details of Crankcase nuts and bolts needed

First thought was, "He must not have the Pahl engine book." I apologize for that, Barrie! When I opened Pahl to p.89 and looked I found just what you did--an undersized photo in which I couldn't distinguish domed nuts from open hex. It took me by surprise. Herr Pahl is usually meticulous in his...

    Shift shaft chain guard

Received mine Monday. Great design, great material selection, fine workmanship, worth much more than the price. Thanks, Greg!

Hi TW, Got a couple of bare OE XS650 H-pattern (dog pee catcher) 19x2.15 fronts. Straight and serviceable, a bit tool marked with some dings in the flanges, will clean up to presentable but not show condition. Gotta get 'em out of the barn, yours for the cost of shipping, take both or none. PM...

    Gasoline

You're the victim whose time is being burned here, JP. The culprit is the attention seeker who sucked you into his drama. Sorry, I'm feeling more crusty and intolerant than usual, but a twerp in Carbondale on this board has already taken unpaid time from an old friend of mine who runs an...

    Gasoline

Had a look, not much to add. It's all been done and written before many, many times, and I don't have much patience for guys who have the time to write a book on a common, simple problem but can't seem to find time for a few simple searches that would take less than half the time and effort...

    Gasoline

No expert here, just a mediocre seat-of-the pants shade tree mechanic, but I'll have a look. Thanks again.

Those pure-gas local listings used to be too often obsolete to be useful in this area, but they seem to have gotten more serious about updating, and I see a few in reasonable distance that I'll call before driving out. Thanks for the reminder to look to that site, JP!
