    Cam chain guides

well, the current material ends up in the screen and filter, I know that. LOL

    Cam chain guides

Countersink tooling isn't very expensive. Although it is difficult to find in anything but SAE sizes. Standard aircraft hardware uses a 100 degree countersink angle, so if you used a 90 degree or 135 degree drill bit to countersink, it would end up stressed at the top or bottom of the hole...

    Cam chain guides

Long time no post! After moving back to Texas, a lot of things have gone sideways and upside down, but I have not disappeared. Question is, I was looking around a little last week and seen that the front cam chain guide is not listed at Mike's XS anymore, and I know NOS can be hard to find...

1979 special 2 pamco kit questions...

I bought the E advance kit direct from Pete and used a Dyna dual tower compact series coil. 3 times the potential energy of the stock coil is plenty. No real need for a flamethrower if you will never put that kind of demand on it. Look at the EX500 carbs thread before you go spend a few...

    79 Special Airbox replacement

I have the K&N filters in the airbox on my 79 and they work great IMO. Did it have the springs too? Those boogers can be hard to find. I have a set generously sent to me by a member here. I had neoprene foam behind them to hold them up tight and it worked, but the springs are "proper"

Oh the humanity!! (Poor, poor XS-1B!)

Bikes are exempt from emissions testing in metro areas of Texas. For now. There was a push to put the sniffer on anything born with catalytic converters on it, but they decided it was too much work to sort them. It would have effectively made illegal aftermarket emissions related modification...

is 43000 miles a lot for these bikes

Just one guy talking, but if they are a grand apart I hope you are looking at something like 500 versus 1500, or not much more. Posted via Mobile

    Troubleshooting Forks

If you didn't pull the seals out, it's quite possible that the carrier is rusted and swollen up, binding on the tube. Are you sure what you see that's red is not rust? Could be All Balls fork seals I guess, but the dust wipers should be covering that. Posted via Mobile

Painting the engine potentially affecting cooling?

The Horse done an article about a year ago comparing bare, vs paint vs powder coat. Bottom line, bare is best. Bare and textured for more surface area, as alluded to above. A word on "temp guns" while handy reference devices, comparisons can only be made with the exact same target area and...

    High speed wobble??

The Cheng Shin C906 was a faithful reproduction of the Metzeler ME33 Laser. It's a good tire. I have one on the front of mine now, and a 907 on the rear. It's entirely possible to get a bum tire. I have a Conti-Motion on the front of my SV right now that is not round. I have worn out 2 sets of...

Ninja EX500 carbs on an XS650?

EX500, ER5, and GpZ500 all have the same basic carbs, although with minor differences in jetting.

What do you all think about the new Ducati Scrambler?

I ride each of mine for what it is. The XS is a classic bike to roll around the back roads on. My 02 SV650 is my commuter and occasional flog the shit out of it 2 laner, also with Race Tech springs and emulators up front and GSX-R750 rear shock appropriately valved and sprung for the bike. My...

    ignition coils

I'm running this coil with my E-advance Pamco. It's a great part IMO. Peak output near 3 times the original coils. Plenty of ass to spare for a properly tuned bike. No flame thrower needed. Posted via Mobile

    Rear tire rubbing

My stock size rear will rub if the axle is not straight. Measure from the swing arm pivot centers to the axle centers for the best accuracy in getting the axle perpendicular to the bike centerline. Posted via Mobile
