I do similar to @5twins. I use a setting from the top, spring out and fork collapsed. This affects dampening at the end of travel. Most notably, it reduces dive when you brake. You actually tune that with the oil level. 5twins knows exactly where his belong. YMMV. Be advised, too little air...

The frames are all the same, so if you’re able to fabricate the side panel hooks, the fit can be perfect.

On the centerstand in neutral, you’re turning the wheel, the final drive and the middle drive.

Disconnect the driveshaft. Easier?

Jack it up. Spin the wheels by hand. Brake? Final drive? Wheel bearings? Easy stuff first.

If you search YouTube, you can find videos showing you how to restore those. Of course, some other tools may be required.
