Interesting Video on How Carbs Work

I wasn't sure where to put this so I just created a new thread. I stumbled across this video on YouTube and thought it may be interesting to some of you. This guy builds a clear carburetor then films it working in slow motion. I know lots of you already have a solid grasp on how carburetors work...

    Exhaust Sucking In Air

So I’m back at this, got busy with my final semester of law school. The right cylinder is persistently running lean and is significantly hotter than the left. For example, I can grasp the left header even after the bike is running for a minute while water will sizzle off the right header. I...

    Exhaust Sucking In Air

I did have the VM Carb stuff down. I did a compression test and got 160 on each cylinder, so at least I got that going for me. I re-checked the valves again and the intake on the right cylinder was maybe a tad loose, but thats it. Then I tried the blowing air into the spark plug hole with the...

    Exhaust Sucking In Air

Carbs were bench synced with a drill bit but that was all. I read the other thread and I’ll keep my fingers crossed it all works out like that. I guess no need to panic just yet.

    Exhaust Sucking In Air

Some Background: I have a 1980 650, which came with Mikuni VM 34's and straight pipes. I replaced the TCI ignition with a Hughs Handbuilt complete PMA/CDI Ignition. I adjusted the cam chain tensioner, then the valves. I followed the Carb Guide with respect to jetting my carbs including the above...

    VM34

Kind of reviving an old thread here, but this link isn't working. I saw this link throughout various other threads and I'd really like to take a look at it. It takes me to a "godaddy" page every time I try it.

My 78 hardtail project . Needed info on wheel swap

The rear wheel is easy. I did the same thing with mine. Im no pro and I figured it out. I got ahold of a spoked wheel, had it re-laced by Buchannan's and it went right into place with a spacer. Your 75 axel may be too long (check the TC Bros hardtail instructions) and might need a washer 3/4"...

    First Attempt at a Build

I haven't had to post here asking questions in a while....the search feature works wonders. Seems like every issue I've run into, someone else somewhere had the same issue. I guess I'm not as special as my mom said. But, I couldn't find a great answer for this one. I bought the Hugh's...

Sold / Found / Inactive - 1980 XS 650 Starter and TCI Stator, Rotor, Pickup, Brushes etc

Got some items I took off a 1980 that are looking for a new home. Free of charge, just pay shipping. I can't vouch for any of these items working, hence no charge. The terminal on the starter is a bit buggered up so I tried to take a decent picture of it. I also have the starter gear, just...

    First Attempt at a Build

Thanks for all the responses. Once I see them I usually run out to the garage so that’s why I don’t respond quickly. I mocked everything up with washers of varying thickness then transferred that measurement to a steel bushing from Lowes and cut it to size. According to my feeler gauges I have...

    First Attempt at a Build

Well fellas I’m having another issue… I’m trying to get the spacing of my rear wheel taken care of before I send it out to Buchanan’s. I got my axel adjusters taken care of with 3/4” washer on the inside and outside of the axle plates. The adjusters center nicely in the dimple on the plates. All...

Is this spacer supposed to be freely floating around inside the hub?
