One of the shipboard dangers of fire on a carrier is the magnesium wheels catching fire. In on famous incident caught on film the wheel locker under the flight deck burns so hot it buckles the flight sending firefighters airborn holding the fire hose they are manning.

When making the cover hangars be sure to have already made and fitted your "bullet". Then the bullet pushed into the lower grommet helps determine the hanger locations and length.

Tuis is an '81 Special. I removed the old mount and fabbed up some new ones from .060" mild steel. The bottom mount is a bullet that snaps into the rubber grommet.l
