    For Sale - TX650 1973 (In Australia)

5k. 10000 original miles, runs fine, carbs just rebuilt, running stock pretty much everything except rectifier. Charging system rebuilt with original Japanese parts. Never really had a drama with it in two years. Can post more photos if people are keen.

    Annoyed. Backfiring

Well, no one else has answered so I will. Are you running stock exhaust and airboxes? Read the McKay carb guide (just google it), particular the section on syncing carbs and the fuel/air mixture You report that he changed your fuel mixture screws in front of you, did he say what he did? It...

    Lazy Exhaust/Rejetting Question

Cheers mate, did you change air filters when you went to short mufflers? I read on this forum if you are only changing exhausts you probably don't need to rejet. If what you say above is accurate, I won't be bothering and will leave the stock exhaust on.

    Lazy Exhaust/Rejetting Question

Hi guys, 1973 TX650, stock exhaust system, stock carbs, stock air filters and air boxes. I have searched the forum and read most of the threads on rejetting after putting on a new exhaust. I want to replace my stock '73 exhaust baffles with something different. I plan on keeping the...

Removed Left Hand Cover to Replace Stator Brushes, now won't start-seized?

I'm getting deja vu from this thread, as each problem you've encountered, I encountered. Even putting long screws back in on the brushes and thinking my motor was seized. Mikes tells me you're looking at 320USD plus postage to replace the broken components of your stock charging system. I'd...

    Need Some help. Running rich

Mine was a broken float post (pretty common issue from people dropping the Carb while working on them) that I just couldn't repair no matter how hard I tried. Ended up replacing the Carb out of desperation.

    Need Some help. Running rich

Sounds like the first minute is before the plug fouls and then you are running on an intermittently firing left cylinder? I had the same problem and it turned out to be a failing brass float in the '73 carbs. Could definitely also be something to do with the choke mechanism, but that's beyond...

    New Bike

Over here in Australia we here lots of stories about how good the east coast is for bikes. Every now and then to really punish myself I will have a look on Craig's list etc. pretty ridiculous. That bike in that condition would be 2000USD here.

What have you done to your XS today?

Rattle canned my tank. It wasn't original paint and i spilled some brake fluid on it. So I sanded it back, bogged some imperfections and rattle canned it. I left a window of old paint remaining and my housemate drew a little picture on it. The goal eventually is to find a nice original 73...

Plug chop, too lean I think?

Too lean if you ask me but I'm no expert! What about just fuel mixture screw adjustments instead of rejetting?

    over charging.

uh oh, I'm using this rectifier also. how long are you finding yourself getting out of them? no problems so far in a few months.
