    Royal Enfield Interceptor 2019

Raymond - congrates on your new bike. I did a service on a 650 Interceptor today. A couple of things about the service that may help - when doing the valve clearances you need to clear everything between the rocker box and the underside of the frame - its just wire loom, cable ties, 3 screws to...

Electric Vehicles, Hybrids...Battery tech... Land Air and Sea. Let's See 'em.

Slightly off topic but a bit relevant. Rang Toyota the other day to find out whats happened to our Camry Hybrid that we ordered in October 22 that we were told we will definitely have in 12 months. Well, its been 16 months so far and we are told it will now be 2 years. Something has gone wrong...

    New to this stuff🤔

Im lucky so far that I havent had to test the following ideas. I have read/been told that in an accident the first thing you put down to protect yourself are your hands (natural reaction) - so Gloves and that your footwear gets ripped off (somehow) - so proper boots without laces because...

Is my Oil Pump serviceable - Advice please

Raymond - I read/researched a lot about checking for a good lube supply before starting new motor. I think I may have read your post about all the kicking you did. The research I did tells me to use the starter motor, plugs removed, Jim even suggests backing valve adjusters all the way off, and...

Is my Oil Pump serviceable - Advice please

Raymond - thanks for the reply. Yes, I think your idea is the way to go - there is no visible wear on the rotors or the housing. It bothers me a bit that my measurements are on the limit of the few specs I can find. I will go with what I have and do my best to see if I have good lube to the top...

Which way up/fitted does this worm drive gear go please.

Im an idiot - I didnt take enough notice. Its the worm gear thats driven by the oil pump and sits on the same shaft - does the recess point up or down. Its fits either way and drives the tacho in the same direction as well. The nut has better purchase if its fitted with the recess up. Next time...

Is my Oil Pump serviceable - Advice please

I am building a spare motor and cant decide/confused if the oil pump is serviceable. Inner to outer rotor clearance - 3.5 thou. (some specs on the forum - no specs in my 77 D Yamaha manual). Side clearance (straight edge across housing, feeler guage between straight edge and top of rotors) - 3...

Electric Vehicles, Hybrids...Battery tech... Land Air and Sea. Let's See 'em.

Been waiting 14 months for our Camry Hybrid - 4 months to go apparently if Toyota get off their arse (seem to be the only manufacturer that cant deliver cars - oh wait lets blame covid). They have produced millions of the things all over the world - one would hope they have ironed out any...

    1978 XS650 Special Project

Something I dont understand about the correct adjustment of the tensioner. It is said in a lot of answers and I quote from 5Twins post above "You want to see a small amount of in-out movement, maybe 1mm to 2mm, and that the plunger isn't coming out past the end of the adjuster screw. More...

    PHANTOM RESURRECTION 78 SPECIAL

What is the logic of the taps - does the handle point to the position or the other end of the handle - I didnt explain that too well. In the picture above are the taps on "On" or "Reserve". Thanks Ray.

    2003 Royal Enfield 500 Deluxe

Raymond - Seen something that reminded me of you today. It has nothing to do with your current issue. Went for a ride in the Adelaide hills and stopped for a coffee - a bloke pulls up on a W800 and we got chatting - It looks like it came directly from the showroom - i am not exagerating - he...

    Stand broke - Honda dropped

Thanks for the comments everybody. Jan and Jim - yeah I hear what your saying - a radius preventing a stress point would have helped. Regards - Ray.

    Stand broke - Honda dropped

I have a 2018 Honda CB1000R which has a single sided swingarm. I had a machinist make me an improved pin for the Single Sided Swingarm Stand which he suggested he would use 6000 (??) Aluminium. This worked well for 2 years but sheared through the other day which dropped the bike and caused small...
