    rear suspension bolt, help.

Re: broken sprocket bolts... It's been a while but I acquired a Heritage Special rear tire complete that had two broken sprocket bolts. I started drilling into the centers of those remaining studs with a smaller diameter bit and they threaded out the other side, much to my delight.....so there's...

    rear suspension bolt, help.

They can be a bugger sometimes. If you remove the shock completely and then thread that bolt in to the bottom first I believe you'll see that it will fit.....of course the top has to be mounted first but you'll know the bottom will fit. Try loosening the top for some wiggle room to get that...

    1977 XS650

That crossover of the throttle cable can be done at the front of the frame and then run along the left side following the harness, same with the clutch cable going on the right side. First time I removed the top mount on my first xs it turned into a Chinese puzzle for a few moments when I went...

    Another (Cheap) Meter Damper Option

Another option is the rubber ring that sits between the clocks glass face and the top of the plastic bucket, if one has a supply of broken clocks taking up space.......seeing as how it's already a part designed for vibrations. So far, so good. Me? Cheap? More like resourceful.

    Speedometer and tachometer rebuild

Right on, right on. That tidbit seems to get lost in the oft times lengthy discourses. It's been a while but if I recall it was around......mebbe ....... 4/5 of uncrimping to where the bezel could be slipped out of the hold. I'll add that putting it all back together with a wee bit of...

    Beginner question about mileage

Going by mileage is a crapshoot as the speedometer clocks can be easily swapped. Seen it on a Standard model that was listed as a low mileage bike and the clocks had been swapped with a set of Specials. Check compression and charging, those are the hiddens. Cosmetics will be mostly obvious.

    Solar Eclipse

Meh, big bunch of hooey here but the price was right. Sun got down to a sliver and there was an odd shadow at the bottom of the sliver that wasn't the moon.....kinda attached to the moons shadow, making the suns sliver only 3/4's......weird Carpenter bees were confused, heard a wild tom turkey...

    Solar Eclipse

You just wait, buddy! Every day the norm is getting flipped to the absurd.......granted a total eclipse isn't the norm but you can catch my drift. When is Oz having a total? Sanity may be restored by then, maybe not.......we'll see (if we're both not pushing up daisies by then.....) ; ^ )
