After 48,000 miles the crank failed and HD wanted $1700 for a new crank. Found a low miles motor out of a 06 for $1200 so that was they way I went. Apparently the 04 and early 05 had issues with con rod bearings. I transferred all the good stuff from the original motor( cams,lifters,push...

It was great being out on it again. It got a motor transplant late last year and I only got to take it out two times for test rides before the snow came. Next year it will 20 years old.:)

Today it was the Sportster's turn. First time out on it since December and after getting some fresh gas and riding for a few miles it started running great.

Just had to go and check some of the mountain roads today. Some snow is still around but the roads are free of salt and sand so I'm no longer stuck in the valley.:D

The one on my 650 has Fastec Racing engraved on it and the one on the RD with the Yamaha logo happened to be available when I ordered it.

I have that on my XS650 and my RD350.
