All was working well until I just finished replacing my handlebar switches and installing new speedo. Now there is no voltage to the headlight, hi or low.
Can someone tell/show me where this resistor is that feeds the dimmer...
Hello, I have an almost stock 1977 XS650-D. Almost 47k miles.
Upgrades to electrical systems are:

I'm upgrading the Alternator to an XS Charge PMA system from Mikes.
I have everything installed but had difficulty with wiring at first...

Got her out of the shed Saturday and into the garage. Found out the battery wouldn't take a charge. She sat all last year. Didn't have time with all the work around the house.
Bought a new Battery on Sunday and she fired up on the 3rd kick. Will need plugs and oil change after work this week...

Still concerned about the relay pulling sound when I connected the battery this morning.
What battery would you suggest? It has already spattered on the tops of my side covers. Would like to get rid of the wet cell...

The star nut would not come off over the ATU (Automatic Timing unit) adapter. This is the piece that the weights small arms ride in. I tried to loosen the nut on the end of the ATU shaft but it...
Hello,
My Haynes manual does not cover this action.
I'm trying to replace the ignitions mechanical advance plate assy.
I removed the weights and springs and tried to back the star nut off but it seems to bind when I get it off so far. It will not come all the way off the unit. The whole...

I credit Punkskalar and his "How to" to get me motivated for this. I have stock 77-D and am taking on rebuilding the front forks for the first time.
I doing this with the upper tubes stil in the trees.
When I got the bottoms off I saw a narrowed section on each of the upper tubes.
OK, here...
