    Bigger Mufflers

Yeah that’s good I do actually have 4M1 needles also. I measured them all up with verneers and the lengths seemed exactly the same between the early and late model slides. Unless I got mixed up! But I do have the late model 78-79 slides too, the diaphragm in one of them is holed but, hence why I...

    Bigger Mufflers

I’ve got late model bs38s. I’m running early model diaphragms and slides. I don’t think that would make a difference, I’ve measured needle lengths and cutaway also. I’ve got the z2 long needle jet and the just needle I’ve got is a 502 but it comes in the keyster kit, it’s called a 502 RR which...

    Bigger Mufflers

Right so I’m back on here to bounce of the experts again. So I’m running bigger mufflers and unifilters. Pipes are welded and sealed correctly. I’ve synced carbs, timed the bike, checked valve clearances etc. I’m now at a point where my jetting is nearly right. I’m running standard bs38s. My...

    Bigger Mufflers

Circling back to exhaust back pressure, am I right in believing that by shortening the restricted length of the header pipe to fit the new mufflers, the negative and positive waves in the larger section of the muffler are reversed back to the exhaust valves at an altered the time at which...

    Bigger Mufflers

Yeah I have the carb guide so I’ll follow that, wasn’t sure whether to bother or not just because I wasn’t sure whether it actually would alter back pressure as the exhaust slims at that point anyway

    Bigger Mufflers

Hey fellas, I just finished retro fitting some short screamin eagle mufflers for a Harley to my xs. It’s just the tailpipe and the header pipe is still stock standard apart from chopping about 70mm off the last internal portion of the header. But the ID is still the same. I’m curious as to...

    Rear Brake Bleed

Okay I have brake pressure! Although the lines probably still have air in them, I have pressure. I discovered that the MC piston was not fully retracting, it was subtle because the pedal always went straight to bottom until I pulled the bottom of MC out by hand to meet the pedal piston between...

    Rear Brake Bleed

Thanks fellas, I’ll try all of the above. The MC wasn’t actually apart at all, neither was the calliper, so I’d assume they should work again. I did take both apart and clean etc. noticed some slight pitting in the piston but above the seal so shouldn’t affect sealing.

    Rear Brake Bleed

Okay I’m stumped here. Rear brakes working, pulled them off when I took the engine out. Had the fluid reservoir hanging upside down for some time. I’m assuming I introduced some air into the line as it would give me no pressure when I reassembled. So I tried… many times, to bleed the...

    Poor running after rewiring...?

Thanks for the help fellas, really appreciate it. I have found the problem, however I'm almost too mortified to share it I figured I'd reply to this thread just to give everyone a laugh. I recently deleted the carb boots with air barbs on my bike, meaning the petcocks are no longer vacuum...

    Poor running after rewiring...?

Hey fellas, recently just finished wiring in a brand new harness. Before I completed the wiring I wired the ignition etc. in just to get the bike running, it ran really well and I had it tuned, timed and carbs synced to almost perfect. Throttle response great even in the cold and all the way...

    What is this?

Legend, that’s a much better wiring diagram! My manual has no mention of it haha.

    What is this?

I thought that may have been it but it’s just strange that the wiring diagram has no mention of it. I was confused because I bought my bike with electronic ignition but wanting to maintain the original running gear for the future. Thanks fellas

    What is this?

Hey fellows, this may seem like an amateur question but I can’t figure out what this disconnected thing is attached to my top engine mount. Any ideas? Cheers!

    Steering Head Tapered Bearings

Thanks mate, I’ll soon find out! It matched the lengths of just about everything else above the bottom tree so can’t be far off!
